Hello Everyone!
About halfway through my senior year in high-school I decided I wanted to go to the States to pursue my dream of playing college volleyball. Throughout my years in high-school at Top Volley Norway we had made multiple trips to the US to get a taste of what the college athlete life was all about. I was tempted and ended up going to Missouri State University West Plains, a junior college where I stayed for two years, as well as getting my Associates Degree. I was part of a really competitive program and we went to the National Tournament both years when I was there. It was after my two years at MSU West Plains I got in contact with Sandra. Reaching out to Sandra is one of the best decisions I have ever made. It also made me realize how big her network is, and how much easier the transition was with Sandra by my side.
Anyways, throughout the summer Sandra helped me get in contact with multiple schools. I decided to go to Coppin State University in Baltimore. After playing at the junior college, I was very excited about getting to play D1 Volleyball. I was excited to be in a bigger city, bigger school, and playing against other competitive programs. Volleyball wise, it was a really successful year for me, I made Most Valuable Player at the school, which was a huge achievement for me. With a few bumps and challenges along the way, I ended up reaching out to Sandra again, in effort to find a new program which would hopefully fit me better.
When I was losing hope, feeling desperate, and not knowing what to do, I reached out to Sandra once again, and she helped me find another school. Transferring as a junior with only one more year of eligibility can be very tricky, but with Sandra’s help I ended up with 15+ offers. I was overwhelmed and finally started to see light at the end of the tunnel. I ended up committing to Emmanuel College which was a perfect fit for me. I truly loved the atmosphere at the school, and knew that this was the right environment for me and an environment where I could grow even more as a player. My last and final year of college volleyball we went to the NCCAA National Championship and finished 3rd and All-Region First team. Another great accomplishment that I achieved at the very end of my college career.
Looking back at it all, it was probably the best days of my life as of yet. Even though life throws rocks at you, it is all about how you handle it. All the hard work you put in inside the gym, as well as outside the gym is all worth it at the end of the day. Early morning workouts, and late night study sessions is all a part of the student athlete life and I am so glad I got to experience it. I am also very thankful that I got to share the journey with me teammates from all over the world, and I am also glad I got to meet Sandra along the way.
